University Collections

Indiana University's collections are valuable resources that must be protected and maintained for present and future students, scholars, and the public, both local and global. University Collections ensures that all of IU's collections — regardless of size, location, or resource level — are properly preserved, housed, and made accessible. Through University Collections, once disparate and isolated collections are becoming a cohesive, cooperative entity that comprehensively considers all aspects of collections preservation, stewardship, and public accessibility. This approach both reinforces the value of IU's most prestigious collections and elevates previously little-known, significant collections across the state.

University Collections is charged with developing collections management and care frameworks and university policies, environmental stewardship assessments and guidelines, broader digital access to collections, increasing the use of collections in research and teaching, and supporting collections' financial needs.
