Michael A. McRobbie University Collections Internship

Overview

The Michael A. McRobbie University Collections Internship provides a selected undergraduate student with a paid, semester-long position with University Collections. The internship offers hands-on experience in artistic, historical, and scientific collections along with expert faculty and staff guidance. Interns involved in this program can gain experience in collection administration, exhibition planning and execution, event management, museum technology, and more.

Qualifications

Strong candidates will have the following:

Interest in a career in museums, public engagement, planning, and collections-based research.
Course work covering art history, history, anthropology, information science, curation, and museums.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to professionally interact with IU faculty and staff, students, and public

Background

The Indiana University Board of Aeons raised the start-up funding required to establish the McRobbie University Collections Internship in 2021, and University Collections administers and financially supports the program. The internship is named in honor of University Chancellor and President Emeritus, Michael A. McRobbie, in recognition of his commitment to the proper stewardship of IU's valuable collections.
